What the sources say for Atlanta
Homeyou says a kitchen remodel in Atlanta has a typical range of $7,520 to $37,600 and an average of $20,000 (September 2026). It says smaller jobs of $10,000 to $15,000 are things like repainting, fixing cabinets, new sinks and new tile. It says jobs of $30,000 and up add custom cabinets, granite counters, hardwood floors and top appliances.
Block Renovation, a remodeling company, gives costs by size (December 2025). A small kitchen is $21,000 to $32,000, a medium one is $33,000 to $48,000, and a large one is $49,000 to $95,000 and up.
The permit averages are much higher
Block Renovation also has pages built from building permits. It says the average project in Atlanta is $74,666 (January 2026). For Alpharetta it says $72,623, from permits filed up to December 2025.
That is an average of permitted jobs, not a price list. Those jobs may include other work. Block's two Atlanta pages do not match each other, and we do not pick one.
National figures for comparison
HomeAdvisor says kitchen remodels cost $14,591 to $41,617 across the United States, with an average of $26,990 and a rate of $75 to $250 per square foot (June 2026). This is national. We found only one national source we could open, so it is a single view.
Why the published figures differ
A repaint and new sink is a different job from new cabinets, new counters and a moved wall. A bigger kitchen costs more. Moving plumbing or wiring costs more again.
The sources also measure different things. One reports a typical range, one reports prices by size, and one reports an average of permits.
Your own quote should list the cabinets, counters, appliances, floors and any plumbing or electrical changes.
Licences and who to ask
In Georgia, residential and general contractors are licensed by the State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors. Electricians, plumbers and conditioned air contractors are licensed by the State Construction Industry Licensing Board. A remodel can involve both.
We could not confirm when a remodel needs a state licence, or whether interior designers are licensed in Georgia. Ask the board. We also did not find permit rules for Atlanta or its northern suburbs, so ask your city or county.
Local Business America does not check licences, verify businesses or rank them. The Georgia Attorney General says to insist on a written contract and not to pay for incomplete work.
