Angi alternatives for contractors

Angi sells leads. Its own pages say you pay a fee for each lead, and that a lead can go to you and up to three other pros. A directory listing is a different thing: a page about your business at a flat price, or free, with no charge per lead. Below is what Angi says about itself, then how a listing compares.

What Angi says, in its own words

Each line is quoted from Angi's own pages, as we read them in October 2026. Follow the link to see it in place.

What Angi does not publish

We found no price for a lead on the Angi pages we read. Its FAQ calls the fee nominal and says it changes with the size of the job. To learn the price for your trade and area, you have to ask Angi.

We also found no figure for how many leads turn into jobs. Be careful with any number you see quoted for that. If Angi does not publish it, nobody outside Angi knows it.

What that means for a small trade business

Paying per lead means your cost follows the number of leads, not the number of jobs. Angi's own credit rules say a customer who does not call back, or who was only shopping, is already counted in the lead price.

Because a lead can go to up to four pros, you may be one of several the customer hears from. That is how the product is built, and Angi says so plainly. Some businesses do well with it. Others would rather pay a fixed amount each month and know the bill in advance.

Other ways to be found

A Google Business Profile is free and is the first thing to get right. It is what shows on the map when someone searches for your trade near them.

Your own website is the one place you fully control. Keep your name, address and phone number the same on it as everywhere else.

A local directory listing is a third. It will not send you leads the way Angi does. It gives your business a page that people in your town can find, and one more place where your details are stated correctly.

How a Local Business America listing works

Every business in one of our guides has a free listing, with opening hours, a map and a link to its website. Claiming it is free.

Essentials is $19 a month and adds a photo gallery, an enquiry form, your Google reviews. Premium is $39 a month and adds a boost to the top of your category and a do-follow link to your website. The price is the same every month, and you can cancel any time.

A listing is not a lead service. We do not sell leads, we do not promise calls, and we cover a small number of areas so far. It is a page about your business in a guide to your town.

Common questions

Does Angi send the same lead to more than one contractor?
It can. Angi's own page says leads are sent to you and up to three other pros.
How much does an Angi lead cost?
Angi does not publish a price on the pages we read. Its FAQ says you pay a nominal fee for each lead and that different sized jobs have different lead fees.
Can I get my money back for a bad Angi lead?
Sometimes. Angi's Lead Credit Guidelines list cases that may get a credit, such as a duplicate lead or wrong contact details. They also say a customer who does not call back is not eligible. A request has to be made within 30 days.
Is Local Business America a lead service like Angi?
No. It is a directory. Your business has a page in your area's guide, and people contact you from it. We do not sell leads and we do not promise calls.
What does a Local Business America listing cost?
Every business has a free listing. Essentials is $19 a month and Premium is $39 a month. You can cancel any time.
Can I use Angi and a directory listing together?
Yes. They do different jobs, and nothing stops you using both.
