Your next stop: Google
Search for your business name and city. Check the phone and address before adding anything.
- Google: Show the address customers visit. No P.O. boxes, remote mailboxes or virtual offices.
- Apple: Add the address customers visit and drag the map pin onto the right building.
- Bing: Show the address customers visit. Bing does not accept a P.O. box.
The address rules, side by side
We read these from each platform's help pages on October 21, 2026. If a platform changes its rules, go by its own page.
| Rule | Apple | Bing | |
|---|---|---|---|
| You go to customers | Remove the address from the profile. Add up to 20 service areas. | No place for a mobile business. A location needs a customer-facing presence. | Hide the address, but only once you add service areas (up to 20). |
| Home address | Hide it if customers do not visit you there. | A place must not be created for a residential address. | Still needed for verification, then it can be hidden from the public. |
| P.O. box or virtual office | Not accepted. | Needs a physical place people can find. | P.O. box not accepted. |
| Verifying | Google chooses the method. Reviews take up to 5 business days. | Organization first. A place already on Maps can be verified by phone. | PIN by phone, text, email or postcard. Then 7 to 12 days to publish. |
Example
A home-based groomer who drives to clients
Maple Lane Mobile Grooming is a made-up business in Columbus, OH. The owner works from home and drives to every client, so Apple Maps will not take the listing at all.
- Google · PendingVerify it with whichever option the platform gives you. Keep proof of your business close in case it asks.Set it up as a service-area business and remove the address from public view. Up to 20 service areas, named by city or ZIP code, not a radius.
- Apple · not eligibleSkip adding an Apple Maps place. Search Apple Maps once to make sure no old place shows your home address.Apple's guidance says a place must not be created for a residential address. Skip adding a new Apple Maps place for now.
- Bing · Not checkedSearch for your business name and city. Check the phone and address before adding anything.Enter your full address for verification, then hide it. Bing only lets you hide it once you add service areas (up to 20).
